December Faves

Hello, me in the future!

Yes, I’m writing this post for you! Cause I thought it’s kinda interesting to remembering things I used to like in the past. Yep, I just found my old diary and then felt some kinda sudden nostalgia attack. After read it, I found myself had been changing overtime, not only my taste on books, movies, songs, foods, etc; but also myself as a person, the way I think about people, decisions and choices i took, and a lot more. Can’t you believe that I (or, we?) used to had more than 3 crushes in elementary school? Oh man, it’s so embarrassing, yet, it’s so silly, right? So, because I think it’s kinda entertaining to just see what yourself in the past (me, at 17) used to like and love, then I hope this post will able to make you have a nice day.

So, December is almost over now. Time flew so fast, okay. In two weeks school will start again, and I have to focus to study. But, hey, while it is still holiday, I tried to do a lot of things, and I had pick some of my favourites of this month. Now, let’s see the number one now!

#1 Harry Potter

Yep! Suddenly I had this urge to re-read Harry Potter. I started to read the third one, because I just thought I’ll be okay just to read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (yep, the movie is my favourite from the rest), but, you know what happen if you read on book of a series novel. I can’t stop, I need more Harry Potter. Then I ended up reading the fifth, sixth, and seventh. And, yeah, I skipped the fourth one, Goblet of Fire, cause I’ve watched it so many times in the past. But you know what? I cried a lot while reading the last three. And you know, anything makes me cry is good and listed on my favourite list. So, favourite story this month is Harry Potter.

And I can’t say which one is my favourite, because it is so hard just to choose one of them. But if you wonder the top three, it would be The Deathly Hallows, The Prisioner of Azkaban, and the Order of Pheonix.

But, wait, the Half Blood Prince is super good too. I mean, what happened there…

Okay, I literally like all of them. I can’t choose.

#2 Jusuf

It’s actually not only for December. I love Jusuf’s channel on YouTube since a couple months ago, and had been binge watch a lot of her videos. Her video about productivity and positive vibes success to make me feel more motivated to study, work-out, going outside, or just chillin’ on some cozy weekend. I wonder how are her videos on the future, when she goes to college or when she got a job. Will her aesthetic change? Just curious by the way :p

#3 Glass Castle

This movie made me cry. It’s based on a memoir of Jeanette Walls, and it made me fall in love and brokenhearted to the characters as the movie went along. I love the cinematography and the casts (there are actors who played Nai and Zaja from Captain Fantastic also have role in here!) and of course, the story. It’s just, little bit relatable to my life I guess. I don’t know. Everything that make me sad, somehow feel relatable for me.

#4 Alessia Cara

Next, is music. One night, I was on my car, waiting for my mom and brother from a minimarket to bought some sweets, and a song played on the radio. I didn’t know what song is that, but it sound familiar, and yes, I enjoyed it so much. Later that night, I searched the song from some lyrics I heard amd found out it was ‘Here’ by Alessia Cara. I knew why it’s familiar because I thought it used to be popular several times ago, and the reasong I didn’t know the song is because I hardly hear anything else that was not Twenty-one Pilots, Panic! at The Disco, or Bastille at the time it was a hit song on the radio. But, I love it now and play it almost everyday. And yes, her voice is amazingly unique. Love it soooooo much!

So, how is it? What do you feel now? Are you embarrassed? Surprised? Having this thought of ‘wat da heck why am i liking these things? Oh my gosh why was i so weird!’? I don’t know what will be on your head now, I mean, things changed right? Probably somethings I used to like is no longer your favourite anymore? I don’t know. But, whatever it is you are feeling now, I hope it’ll make you feel happy and be grateful and positive and can make your day better!

– much love, Mars 17yo

Perfect Day

A perfect day, doesn’t mean I have nothing to do but just relaxing myself at home while it’s raining outside. Well, maybe it’ll be nice, but for now, I think the perfect day will be good with these things :

•  It’s still dark outside, but I already wake up feeling fresh from my peaceful sleep.

•  Take my journal and write things that I am grateful for.

•  Do a little exercise, not to hard but enough to make my body feel fresh again.

•  Take a relaxing warm shower and wash my hair.

•  Cook some breakfast for me and my family. French toast with fruit jam and honey is my favourite, it’ll be nice with warm chocolate milk.

•  Put on my favourite clothes, because today is no school day, and I have plans to spend it with my friends.

•  Then meet with some friends, chat about life and stuff, with a lot of jokes and laughs. Make memories with visiting some places in the town and take a lot of pictures of us.

•  Have a lunch with some nice street foods. Again, while share stories and cheerful vibes with my friends.

•  Then, I’ll go to a cozy coffeeshop by myself. With a warm latte, and maybe just doodling on my journal. And outside is raining, and beautiful acoustic music is playing.

• It’s almost night, so I go home and have another relaxing warm bath.

• Now my mother cook for the family, and then we have a great dinner as we share our day.

• Go to my room, take a couple hours just to read a book with a comfy blanket on.

• Or binge watch some episodes of TV show.

• Or watch some heart-toucing films.

• Or just read some blog posts.

• –while putting my favourite face mask.

• Then, put some relaxing music, and do some stretching or yoga.

• Turn the light off, and pull my blanket. It’s a perfect time to have a really good sleep.

So that’s it. My perfect day list, with family, friends, and some chill time for myself. Perfect.

Whenever you’re feeling down, unmotivated or just feel everything in this world sucks, try to make a perfect day list, like this one I did today. For me it’s like creating a suggestion for myself that say, Come on! Life is sucks sometime, but you have to get rid of it. Remember these sweet things are exist and are waiting for you to cheer your day as a perfect day!

#School Trip – Bali Haul pt. 1

Hello everyone!

I actually didn’t bought many things while I was in Bali, but I spent my money lavishly on things I shouldn’t have buy. I mean, I didn’t even know what to do with chamomile essential oil on my every day life, buy I bought it anyway.

Note to self : think properly before buying something. It may save your money.

But, even I felt like I shouldn’t bought somethings I already bought, I still feel happy without regret. Well, someday later, I would use these things and remember all the memories I had when I was doing this school trip, that’s why I don’t have any regret to bought them. It’s because a little memory they bring.

So, I’m going to make a little haul post now! I’ll divide the haul into some parts, so you won’t get bored of my thoughts on things I bought! Anyway, here’s the first list!

  • Herborist – Manggo body butter

I like this product! It moisturise my skin perfectly and the mango scent smells super nice. I love to use it before I go outside because it makes my skin soft and fresh. But, there’s one thing I don’t like, which the scent doesn’t stay long, only about 3 or 4 hours, then I lost the mango scent I super love:(

    • Herborist – Chamomile essential oil

I mentioned this product earlier as if I didn’t buy this, I might save my money. But the reality is I bought this oil anyway.

Reason? Because I love the smell (really relaxing!), and I might never have any chance to buy any essential oil later (because later in my student life, maybe there’s another thing I can buy, instead a bottle of essential oil).

And I still have no idea what should I do with this product! If you reading this, and have use this kind of essential oil, maybe you can help me by write something on the comment box below!😋

      • Bali Alus – Chocolate body and face mask

I love face mask, and thought why not buy one from Bali? I chose the chocolate variant because before this, I was planning to buy a chocolate face mask but I didn’t because I have to use the money to bought another thing. (such a poor money management, lol). I haven’t try this, so I can’t tell you I love it or hate it, but I really hope this mask will be one of my favourite.

And, that’s all for the first part! I hope you like this post 🙂

        #School Trip

        Hello everyone!

About 2 weeks ago, I had a school trip to visit many universities located on the Java island. This trip was mean to help us, the 12th grader, to prepare the next step of our educational life, which is going to college. As we would visit many faculties on those various universities, we should choose which we want to visit. I chose to visit ITB in Bandung, UGM in Jogjakarta, and ITS in Surabaya. This was super fun, because we could get the college atmosphere while we visited the uni. And, wait, the fun didn’t stop there, because after we went to Surabaya, we also went to Bali!

This was the most interesting time, because we visited many places in Bali, like Tanjung Benoa (where we can play many watersport here), Pandawa beach, Jimbaran beach (We had dinner with the whole batch of 12th grader), Tanah Lot and the most important, Joger and Khrisna (where we can buy many things as souvenirs).

I really like this trip because me and my classmates could have a long time together on the bus, and also there’s a lot of new experiences I’ll never regret. I hope this journey stay forever in my head cause every memories are all super fun.

And also, I’m going to post somethings related to this trip, so, be ready!

        Have a great day!

        Salawaku – A Review?

        This movie is beautiful.

“Salawaku” tells a story about Salawaku, a native Malukuan boy, and a wealthy modern metropolitan waman from Jakarta, named Saras, set out on a journey to find Salawaku’s mysteriously lost sister.

I personally underestimate the film before I watched it. Reasons? Maybe because it’s Indonesian film.

Yes, the old me, would likely choose Hollywood’s films rather than Indonesian film to watch at the cinema (what a shame 😥). But, the new me, will never underestimate Indonesian films anymore. And the reason is because of this movie really slaps me in the face for the fact that Indonesian films also has a very good quality. And that, will bring us to the first point why I love this movie.

The movie, as I said in the first place, is beautiful. I love how Faozan Rizky, the cinematographer, showing us the beauty of Maluku. Everything looks so good, and leave me wanting to go to beaches around Ceram Island. I like this kind of road movie, where the film success to bring us with the character’s journey through excotic places. Like, the movie is giving you a chance to know what it feels like to be in that place, and it such a nice experience.

The next thing I like from this movie is, how a simple story with quite taboo topic in Indonesia, can be presented nicely with not too much unnecessary dialogs and scenes. Like the backstory of Saras, well told by a simple flashback of the night before she went away from her resort and voiceover of her and her boyfriend. This kind off flashback is my favourite! Also from the begining of the movie, and almost all Binaya’s scene before the third quarter of the movie, are my favourite scenes for the same reason. This kind of storytelling is also the reason why my first word of this movie is beautiful. (Yes, it has stunning visual with minimal dialogue. It’s one of my favourite style of film)

And because the movie hasn’t much dialogue, the next thing they should boost beside the cinematography, is of course the acting from their actors. I definitely would agree that the actors play their role really good, even for some scene without dialogue. And yes, the story is well told by their performance.

Oh! Forgot to tell you that I also love the traditional songs played as the backsound (okay, I’m actually sure this is the prefer word for that music plays in the middle of a movie, so correct me if I’m wrong!) of the movie.

It’s another 9/10 from me, and yes, you should watch it because it’s soooo gooooddd 😉😉. And if you wonder where to watch it, you can find it on HOOQ (it’s basically an app to watch movies and tv series like Netflix, and it’s quiet populer in Asia).

Hey, if you’re Indonesian, and already watched the film, share your thoughts about it on the comment section! I’d love to hear it 😊. But, if you haven’t, go watch it after reading this post!

When these things happen to you

When there are things happened to you. Things that make you succeed to cry hard over your pillows. Things that perfectly open your mind and aware about the cruelness of the world. Things that make you don’t want to get up and put a smile anymore on that face. Things that make you hate everything from this world. Things that make you don’t feel any sorry for those kind people who try to offer some help. Things that also are the most things you hate over anything. These things that are you should get rid off. These things that make you changed to a stronger person. These things that makes you see the real world and teach you how to stand over it. These things that make you be someone you’ve never think would be. So when these things happened to you, be strong, be brave, be patient, be sincere. Remember there’s a lot more things on this world can make you feel the opposite.

        Dunkirk – A Review?

I love Christopher Nolan’s films and those charming actors who played in the movie, and never forget Hans Zimmer because the scoring is super sick👌👌. The movie is not like my expectations, but I can say, I am so much satisfied with everything.

The story is quite simple, which one thing that not fit with my expectations, but somehow I love this film because the story is not complicated. That’s why I understand why some people said that this movie is quite boring at the beginning. But hey! This post is me talking, or typing, my thoughts about this movie, not about some people’s opinions. So, here’s another thoughts.

As I said before, I love Hans Zimmer, because he did a really great job here. The music really fill the atmosphere and make the movie so intense. Feels like I was watching a war film with horror ambience. But that’s another plus, because it’s different with any other war film. It’s showing you the suspense in the middle of a war, with minim dialog.

But, as a war film, of course this movie has a lot moral values. You’ll have to watch it yourself to know the values, because if I tell you now, I might spoil the story. I can’t tell you just a little part; I might end up telling you the whole movie.

And, the most important things, the actors are so 👌👌👌. Lucky me, I watched it with my friend who also love Tom Hardy so much, so basically, we’re fangirling together inside the theater. And if you want to see some Harry Styles here, he looks completely gorgeous with the hair cut. Everyone plays their role perfectly and success to bring various emotions through the movie.

This movie is very recommended if you want to feel thrilled and watched some good-looking men and study a little history on this planet.

No, actually, all of you have to watch it!

I love everything from this movie; 9/10 from me. Now after reading this, go find tickets and enjoy the movie at you nearest theather. And if you already watched it, share your thoughts about it in the comment section, I’d love to know what do you think about it!
